Calm systems
for complex
products.

I’m Xavier, a product designer specialising in design systems. At Mango I lead Terra, the system behind its web and apps, working side by side with engineering so that consistency, accessibility and scale feel effortless for the teams who use it.

How I work

Four things I try to get right, every time.

01

A system is a service

Components are the easy part. Trust, documentation, versioning and a friendly place to ask questions are what make teams actually use a system.

02

Built with engineering

Developers are a system’s first users, not its last step. Shared names, tokens and rituals turn a hand-off into a conversation.

03

Accessible by default

Contrast, focus and semantics belong in the foundations, so every team gets them for free instead of adding them at the end.

04

Measured, not assumed

Adoption, load time, add-to-bag. I like knowing whether a decision worked, and saying so plainly when it didn’t.

“A design system is as much a communication problem as a craft problem.”

About

Detail-obsessed, low on ego.

Before design systems I designed apps at Mango and Massimo Dutti, and motion and brand work before that, at Ricoh and the Ajuntament de Vilassar de Mar. That mix still shapes how I work: I care about how things look, how they’re built, and how they feel to the people using them, in that order, all at once.
